LADY ST MARY FIRST SCHOOL SUMMER TERM NEWSLETTER 5
14th June 2012
A big thank you to all who came to join us for the Jubilee picnic. It was lovely to see so many of you and certainly started off the celebration weekend in grand style. As usual the children were a credit to us all!
I hope that many of you have had the opportunity to look at our new website. You will see some of the new photographs there and others will appear around the school in the coming weeks. We are now working on a new colourful school prospectus for issue in September.
SPONSOR 20 DAY
On 26th June we will be having a ‘Sponsor 20’ day when each class will be taking part in an activity to raise money for school funds. Sponsor forms accompany this letter. Please do not feel under pressure to get lots of sponsorship – every little helps.
PREMISES UPDATE MEETING
There will be an open afternoon on Thursday 21st June where members of the project team will be available to show the latest plans for the development of the school and answer questions. Please feel free to drop in if you can as we are now very close to work starting.
DISPOSAL OF UNWANTED CHAIRS
We have a number of the old pupil chairs and the green swivel computer chairs. Some have already been passed on to other schools but the remaining ones are available to parents for a small contribution. If you would like any please see a member of the office team as soon as possible as we need to clear the old ICT room / library within the next few weeks.
NEW REGISTRATION FORM
Mrs Lovett will be sending out new registration forms for Wareham St Mary very soon. Please complete it to update our details and return it to school promptly. Thank you.
VEHICLES ON SCHOOL PREMISES
Please can I remind you that parents are not permitted to drive their vehicles onto the school site. This includes coming up the access road and parking in front of the Children’s Centre.
Many people have been asking about our plans for the torch relay on Friday 13th July. We will be sending out a letter nearer the time to find out which children will be collected at 1.00pm by parents to see the torch. Any children who will remain in our care will come with us, leaving school at 1.30pm in order to try to get a good viewing place. So far I have not had information about the school being allocated a specific place to watch the torch. I do know that we can expect students from other local schools as well as local people so it will be very busy!
Parents of children who come to school in taxis will be contacted individually by Mrs Lovett to discuss arrangements for the day.
KITE FESTIVAL / SUMMER FAIR
Please do try to join your child’s class for their kite making next week. The week ends with a grand kite flying event at 1.45pm on Friday 22nd which will also be our Summer Fair. The PTFA are working hard to prepare for this and would appreciate your support. Please look out for posters and information from them.
