  • Vision & Values

Our vision is rooted in John 21:6 'He said, “Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.” When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish.'

John 21:6 captures a powerful moment when the disciples are tired, discouraged and lacking hope after a long night of catching nothing. Just when they feel their efforts have been wasted, Jesus appears and invites them to trust him, giving them a simple instruction: "Throw your net on the right side of the boat." Although it may not have made sense to them, they listened and acted in faith. As a result, their empty nets were suddenly filled with an abundance of fish, so many that they could hardly pull the net in.

This story reflects our school values:

    • Trust – The disciples trusted Jesus' guidance, even when they did not fully understand why he was asking them to do something different.
    • Perseverance – Despite a long and unsuccessful night, they did not give up. They kept going and were willing to try again.
    • Courage – It took courage to follow Jesus' instruction and step out in faith when their own experience suggested otherwise.
    • Friendship – The disciples worked together, supporting one another and sharing in the blessing that followed. Their friendship helped them achieve something they could not have done alone.

This story reminds us that, when we face challenges, setbacks or uncertainty, we do not face them alone. Like the disciples, there will be times when our own efforts seem unsuccessful, but Jesus calls us to trust him, be open to a different way forward and persevere with courage. Through his guidance, ordinary people achieve extraordinary things. As children of God, we are nurtured by his love, encouraged to act responsibly by listening to his voice, and given the courage to step out in faith, trusting that he can bring abundance and possibility where we see only difficulty.

As children of God, we are called to live in the same way. We trust God when the path ahead is unclear, persevere when things are difficult, show courage in trying new things, and value friendship by supporting one another. When we do this, we can achieve more than we ever thought possible, knowing that God is with us every step of the way.
