Remote education

While we are unable to offer in-school teaching for all children, we will be delivering remote learning via Google Classrooms for those children that are learning at home. There is an expectation that your child attends ‘virtual school’ every day. If your child is unable to attend, please inform the office, following our usual policy of reporting an absence, so we can see how we can support you.

  • Daily timetable of Google Classroom and teacher inputs will be shared on the Google Classroom page. These will broadly meet the Maths and English weekly timetable plus some wider curriculum work.
  • It is our expectation that all pupils will attend ‘virtual school’.
  • Teachers will then use Google Classrooms to explain this work with the children.
  • Some staff members will be available via Google Meet to offer support for some children as they work through the set work.
  • The teacher will virtually provide short feedback on the work that has been completed.

How to submit work to Google Classrooms:

  1. Open your web browser on your computer and go to classroom.google.com/ (please email the office if you have trouble logging in).
  2. Find your classroom and click to enter.
  3. At the top of your dashboard, choose the "Classwork" tab.
  4. Click on an assignment, then select "View Assignment" by clicking the link at the bottom.
  5. Under the "Your Work" panel at the side, choose "Add or Create."
  6. From there, either click "Google Drive" to attach a document or image you've already created and saved in your Drive, or "Link" to add a URL for an online resource or "File" for a document or image that is located outside of your Google Drive. (You may also start an assignment here by creating a new document, slide, sheet, or drawing on this page.)
  7. To leave a private comment for your teacher, enter it in the text box on the right. Then click the small triangular "paper airplane" icon to post it.
  8. Next, click "Turn in" or "Mark as done" to confirm your submission and to change the assignment status to "Turned in."
