Learning a foreign language provides an opening to other cultures. At Wareham St Mary we allow pupils to express their ideas and thoughts through the teaching of Spanish, and to understand and respond to its speakers; both in speech and in writing.

Spanish has been chosen as our Modern Foreign Language as it is the world’s second largest spoken language

 We use Kapow to help Key Stage 2 teachers to deliver the teaching of Spanish. Children are shown videos, activities, games and native Spanish speakers are used to show the children the correct pronunciation.

Through the teaching of Spanish, children have the opportunity to understand language spoken by millions across the globe and allows children the chance to even try and use the skills learnt in the outside world.
