RE
As a Church of England School, our RE curriculum is based on the Diocese of Salisbury’s recommended resources - Understanding Christianity and The Emanual Project (which covers other world faiths). Two-thirds of our curriculum taught is on Christianity, with one-third other world faiths.
Our Christianity topics are: God, Creation (and Fall), Incarnation, Gospel, Salvation, People of God, Kingdom of God. These topics are revisited and developed across Early Years, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. We also follow the Dorset RE suggested syllabus for teaching world faiths which looks at aspects of Humanism, Judaism, Islam, Sikhism, Buddhism and Sanatana Dharma.
We hold enriching Journey and Spirituality Days. The Spring Journey Day focuses on worldviews and special stories. These days build on prior knowledge and embed greater understanding and deeper reflection and thinking through a 'big question'.
