Summer Term 2

Ice-cream surprise - So, after eating their delicious burgers, the Year 6s wondered if there was any pudding. 'How am I going to find you a pudding I said?' ' We could go to Co-op for some ice-creams." someone suggested. "Ok, great idea, let's go." I replied. Looking shocked, the children got up from their seats and lined up ready to walk to the Co-op. Imagine their surprise when outside stood an ice-cream van stocked full of delicious ice-creams. They all enjoyed tucking into a 99 with flake and sauce - a well-deserved treat for some wonderful Y6 leavers. :)

Making burgers at the Purbeck School - Y6 had an amazing time at the Purbeck School making their delicious burgers. They sensibly used ovens, made sure the burgers were cooked with temperature probes and plated their burgers up with wonderful salads -an amazing effort Y6!

Domino's lunch treat for Y6 - Today Y6 had an extra special treat for lunch....Domino's pizza! They were very excited when they found out what their treat was and enjoyed plenty of pizza, crisps, chocolate cakes for pudding and of course, a Mrs Holt special mocktail!

Circus fun for Y6 - Today Y6 had a fantastic time learning some new tricks in the circus tent. A huge thanks to our wonderful PTFA for providing the circus and allowing the children to have the circus skills session.

Y6 DT - Food tasting - Today Y6 have been trying out different herbs and spices they might want to use when making their burgers. They tried oregano, cumin, parsley, chilli and mixed herbs. Some children loved them and some really didn't! They also tried 5 different types of burger bun and enjoyed tasting the different flavours. The favourite was by far the cheese rolls.

Sport's Day 2024 - It's safe to say that Sport's Day this year was the hottest ever! However, the Y6s still gave it their all despite melting in the June heat. A great effort in the morning completing the carousel of activities and a big well done for their amazing efforts in the afternoon in the track races. Here are a selection of photos from the day. :)

Activity Week - Day 5&6 - Y6 headed off with lots of excitement on Friday for their activity day and sleepover at Cumulus Outdoor Centre at Studland. The coach journey there contained lots of questions and anticipation but from the moment they arrived and were greeted by the friendly team, the children were relaxed and keen to get going. They took part in lots of activities - tag archery, rifle shooting, axe throwing, bush craft (making small fires),tree hugging and team games before 'moving in' to their tents for the night. Once they had decided who was sleeping where, it was dinner time There was much excitement about dinner - chicken wraps with lots of extras followed by chocolate brownie and ice-cream for dessert. There were lots of happy-looking children and lots of empty plates. After they had washed up - yes, the children had to wash up, they went back to tents to get ready for the evening games in the wood. By 8.30pm everyone was looking weary so it was time for the 'bedtime wind down'. This meant hot chocolate around the camp fire. This made everyone even more sleepy so after that it was teeth brushing, toilets then tents for the night. Everyone was asleep by 10pm after a very hot and active day. It was a remarkably quiet night apart from the peacocks and cows! The wake up call was at 7.30am and everyone was keen for their breakfast - bacon and pancakes with maple syrup, cereal, yogurt and fruit. Tent inspections and tidy-up took place before more games and then it was time for home. Everyone had a great time and really embraced their night away from home. Well done Y6 for making the most of your time and taking part is the activities so well. I'm sure it's a trip you'll remember for many years to come.

Activity Week - Day 4 - Today we had a tennis coach come in to work with Y6 helping them develop their tennis skills. We definitely have some very talented tennis players - I suspect we might see some of them at Wimbledon one day! After a very warm tennis session, the children completed their art work from Tuesday before having a well-deserved, chill-out afternoon watching a film. It was so quiet at one point, I thought they had all gone to sleep!

Activity Week - Day 3 - PAULTON'S PARK - Y6 have enjoyed the best day today at Paulton's Park. They left at 9am this morning slightly apprehensive and a little nervous about what was in store for them today but arrived home at nearly 6pm full of excitement, stories and a little bit of tiredness. They all behaved impeccably and represented the school brilliantly. They attempted rides which really took them out of their comfort zone but left them desperate to go again and again. Everyone had such a good time and will remember this trip for many years to come.

Activity Week - Day 2 - ARTS DAY Today Y6 have been completing some art activities, which they have really enjoyed. They have created ammonites using clay and cardboard, based on our science work on fossils and evolution They created wonderful models and spent lots of time planning how they would create their ammonites. Another task the children were given was to design a rock or tile for The Anglebury Court day centre in Wareham. The rocks and tiles will be going in their new sensory garden. Great effort today Y6! .

Activity Week - Y6 Sailing - Today Y6 have had the best time at The Andrew Simpson Sailing Centre learning how to sail. The sun shone, the wind was perfect and everyone had such a great time. The children listened carefully and were able to sail in crews of three. All instructors were so impressed with their manners and behaviour - well done Y6! :)

Dragon's Apprentice Market Sale - Wow, the Y6s have impressed everyone at WSM with their amazing products today. They proudly showed off their products and sold them at the Market Sale. They then counted their takings, deducted their float and initial loan and worked out their profits. Amazing! They have raised around £250 for end of term treats. Well done Y6! :)

Dragon's Apprentice 2024 - Y6 have been working so hard creating their wonderful products for their Dragon's Apprentice project. There are key chains, chocolate bars, sweet cones, coasters, clay models, fizzy, fruity mocktails, scented slime and so much more! The children are so excited about selling their products at the Market Sale and can't wait to see how much money they make towards their end of term treats. :)
